Clarksville Research Center (Est. 1974)

The Clarksville Research Center hosts research on small fruits and tree fruits as well as wheat and weed control in a variety of crops. Michigan is the nation's No. 1 producer of blueberries and tart cherries, the No. 3 producer of apples, ranks in the top four for the production of plums and sweet cherries, and is No. 13 in winter wheat production. Research at the 440-acre site includes variety development, fruit thinning and growth regulators, dwarf rootstocks for fruit trees, integrated pest management, and new pruning practices to help make production more profitable, efficient and environmentally friendly.
