Dunbar Forest (Est. 1925)

The 5,700-acre Dunbar Forest is the largest and second oldest MSU off-campus facility. The forest hosts long-term genetics and silvicultural studies that have helped advance the science of forest management in Michigan and the Great Lakes region. For example, red pine is the most widely planted commercial forest species in Michigan, occupying more than 25,000 acres. Successful long-term management of this important resource is based, in large part, on research results from the Dunbar Forest.
