Join us for the UP Farm to School Training! Whether you’re brand new to farm to school or a seasoned expert, this will be a great experience for you to increase your knowledge, meet and collaborate with colleagues developing farm to school efforts throughout the region, and provide you with new skills for beginning or expanding your farm to school programs. School food service directors, staff, and personnel are especially encouraged to attend, as well as farmers, extension educators, professionals, and curious minds working in or looking to expand into Farm to School efforts.

The day will begin with an overview of Farm to School and Farm to Early Childhood programs, then proceed with discussions of local food procurement, building successful Farm to School teams, working with local farmers, hoophouses, taste testing for cafetrias and classrooms, tracking purchases and measuring progress. The session will conclude with an option tour of the Upper Peninsula Research and Extension Center’s North Farm site, which specializes in agricultural education.

The event is free and open to the public, with registration. Lunch is included.
