On-site Wastewater Management Workshop

A two-day workshop on wastewater management systems that will cover the basics of soil-based systems, with an emphasis on the soil component. The course for the first day, entitled ‘Key Ingredients of a Good On-site Treatment System,’ will discuss the importance of the soil component of wastewater management, as well as the function of the septic tank, pumps, pressure distribution vs. pump-and-dump and advanced wastewater treatment. The course for the second day, ‘On-site Wastewater Design and Management,’ will discuss the design, construction, management and regulation of large advanced treatment systems. This includes the topics of soil application systems, on-site system site selection and analysis, the use of flow equalization, alternative treatment technologies, high-strength wastewater, designing for nutrient removal and system management properties. Registration includes lunch and informational materials.
