The North Central Regional Association (NCRA) of Agricultural Experiment Station Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Jacobsen, former dean of the Montana State University College of Agriculture, as its new executive director.

Jacobsen, who also served as director of the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station for over 10 years and was a professor in the Department of Land Resources and Environmental Sciences at the university, will begin his new NCRA position March 1. He will be stationed at and work from the campus of Michigan State University.

David Benfield, chair of the search committee, said the national search resulted in a pool of highly qualified applicants.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Jacobsen as our new executive director,” said Benfield. “Not only is he knowledgeable about the important role our organization has with land grant universities across the Midwest, he also has a solid vision of where we should be headed and how best to achieve that.”

The executive director works to enhance and promote the NCRA within the region, the United States and internationally.

Jacobsen has also served as a member the Experiment Station Committee on Organization and Policy (ESCOP), several capacities in the Western Association of Agricultural Experiment Station Directors and numerous other regional and national positions. He is a fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and the Soil Science Society of America.

The NCRA is composed of 12 prestigious institutions of higher learning with stellar records of achievement in research, teaching and outreach. It includes the agricultural experiment station directors at land grant universities in: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
